Oh yes and permaculture speaks of Cardoons in the garden for the green manure of those luscious leaves and the deep tape roots that crack open the soils for surrounding plants to get down deeper down for water!

Calling all shredded paper and old phone books... Needed

Hello one and all:
I'm working on building a bio- sponge swale in my organic garden in Seattle. To accomplish this lots & lots of shredded paper and old phone books will be needed.
So if you have a bunch of these materials, please let me know. We are working on a new permaculture design for our organic vegetable garden that will help the garden store water! We would be happy to do a show and tell about the process if you'd like to see.

Thanks for your help

The Seed Site for saving seeds!

Seeds and Seedpods

There are two parts to this section - one on Seeds, and one on Seedpods.

The Seed section is a chart of 700 seeds sorted by size and shape. All the pictures are more or less life-size, photographed in a 1" circle. If you have some seeds with no name, this might help you to identify them.

These pictures can't be entirely accurate. For one thing, seeds even in the same seedpod can vary a bit in size and shape, so the particular seeds I've scanned might be a little different f… Continue

I've cleared the patch of land just west of the cabin for an herb spiral, since that seems to be the place nearest the cabin that gets the most summer sun.

I'm not sure where the sun hits in the winter yet. Maybe you could help me pick a winter garden site, using your knowledge of the sun patterns on the land?

I could definitely prep the soil and inoculate it with funghi--we just learned about the many benefits of funghi in the permaculture course. I'm planning to seed some stumps with oyster mushrooms; I could order soil-enhancing species at the same time.

But of course. A sustainable gardening workshop would be great. But wouldn't your place be a better site? You've got an awesome garden, and all I've got is a potted tomato. Still, I'm up for a workshop on Camano too. :)

how to leave a comment. Cant figure out how to see other peoples
comments. I will need a little more training when/if my kids come to
